Why Windshield Wipers Start Chattering

A wiper blade that is hardened, dirty, misaligned, or moving across a contaminated windshield can grab and release instead of sliding smoothly.

Try cleaning both the windshield and wiper blade to see if it improves. If not, replace the wiper blade.
